The Hot Dot is a small hook-and-loop contact point designed to sit neatly on the webbing of your pack or chest rig. It gives you a secure place to keep small, lightweight items you want to reach instantly — rig winders, a tub of Mucilin, fullers-earth mud, or similar essentials fitted with loop-side Velcro.
I wanted a clean way to keep rig winders up on my shoulders, where they’re easy to grab and stay clear of the line. A fixed point on the webbing turned out to be the simplest and quickest solution, and the Hot Dot grew directly from that idea.
I run a pair of Hot Dots on the 20 mm webbing of my Umpqua ZS2. They keep winders high, tidy, and completely out of the fly line’s path. If you change rigs often, this saves more time than you’d expect. They also work well for tiny tubs of Mucilin or fullers-earth mud — anything lightweight that benefits from living up on your shoulders instead of buried in a pocket.
The standard version fits 20 mm webbing, as shown in the photos. If your pack or belt uses wider webbing, I can size the Hot Dot accordingly. Just tell me what it needs to fit.
A small improvement that makes your setup feel quicker and more deliberate. Once you get used to having rig winders or mud within finger-reach, it’s difficult to go back to rummaging.
